this has nothing to do with R.A. but i am so angry about it. i walk my dog on a field when i can and then i return through a lovely walk in a short woodland which edges an industrial estate,i am always listening out and keep dog on lead at certains points as i am on my own not that early but on my own in a wood,by the time i get to the trees it is school time and i cannot believe the amount of young ladies with headphones on and texting without a care is unreal, i am 54 and still keep an ear open, how on earth would their parents feel if they knew these kids were putting themselves at risk,ok i am walking my dog but not everyday at the same time on the same route,i passed 7 girls this morning all on their own, one nearly knocked into me as she was so busy on her phone and then a few boys together,so silly i cant believe it,my kids had pushbikes to go to the same school and i was glad they had,i phoned the school and i got the "oh dear thats not good"i will pass it to the teachers, so i hope it does, rant over sorry, dorothy

Hi Dorothy

I am not quite sure what it is you are angry about. Is it that these children are on their own in a wood and at danger of being abducted or attacked or is it that they are on mobile phones all the time? I think you mean the first one and I agree that they are putting themselves at great risk. I would have been mortified if I thought my children had been walking alone through these places. I think it is probably not a good idea to be constantly on the mobile either as there are health risks involved but kids are kids and don't worry about anything and in a way that's great. They shouldn't need to worry about anything but in this day and age they do need to be cautious. It's great that you care enough to contact the school and make them aware of this as it is too late after the event.

I know what you mean Dorothy. Surely these children read the papers or hear the news (or maybe they don't.) It's a big bad world out there. Let's hope they don't end up in the papers themselves.
